Burke Picture of Mom

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Enide Burke (nee Morel) at the age of 100 years on April 29th, 2020.  Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Irvine (Bing)Burke in 2003 and by her daughter Ann-Marie in 1979.  Survived by sons Lloyd (Viola) Burke of North Bay; David (Elana) Burke of North Bay; and Mark (Terry) Burke of Mattawa. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Natalie (Neal), Joshua (Heidi), Brendan (Karly), Jared, and Adam, and 2 great grandchildren; Grady and Erica.  Beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Beatrice (Nadon) Morel.  Born and raised in Mattawa where she resided throughout her life.  Enide was the oldest of 10 siblings; Victor Morel, Theresa Barker, Mary Renaud, Ernie Morel, and the late Roger Morel, Emile (Nig) Morel, Gerry Morel, Jerome Morel and Harry Morel.  Enid was also a beloved sister-in-law to the late Michael (Mickey) Burke, Ella McLachlan, Ernest Burke, and Gertrude Dupras.  Remembered fondly by many Nieces and Nephews.  Enide’s pride and joy was her family.  Her most treasured moments were family gatherings and in particular summers spent at the family cottage on Lake Talon.  We all have fond memories of Bing and Enide dancing to “their song” – Spanish Eyes.  We would like to acknowledge the care and wonderful staff at the Algonquin Nursing Home of Mattawa and Doctors Redhead and Williams, and all the nursing staff at the Mattawa Hospital for caring for Mom through her 100 years. A special thank you from the bottom our hearts to Sue Belanger. Enide was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Algonquin Nursing Home of Mattawa or St. Anne’s Parish in Mattawa would be appreciated. As per Enide’s wishes, immediate cremation will take place with no service to follow. A private family service will be held at a later date.
