It is with profound sadness and broken hearts; we announce the unexpected passing of Philip Brown onMay 25, 2017 at the age of 73 years. Dearly loved and devoted husband of Jennifer Brown (nee Stevens). Much loved father of Amanda Brown (J.J Oake), Vanessa (Brown) Legault (Randy) and David Brown. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin Legault. Dear brother of Avril Al Rousi, Richard Brown (Katherine), Jonathan Brown (Gill), Ivan Brown (Liz) and Nigel Brown. He will be sadly missed by Marjorie Brown, mother of Amanda and Vanessa Brown, mother-in-law Betty Stevens, brothers-in-law Tom and Andy Stevens and their families, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends Predeceased by his parents; Ronald and Eileen Brown and his siblings; Marion and Lionel. Born in Bishop’s Stortford, England, Philip moved to Canada after graduating from Imperial College as a Mining Geologist. For 50 years Phil worked mainly in Northern Ontario as an exploration geologist, but his profession also took him to different parts of the world, including Africa, Alaska, Brazil and Ireland to name a few. He was well respected in the mining community by his colleagues. Philip was generous, optimistic and always happy. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity to others. To his loved ones he was the pillar of the family. He always encouraged his children to follow their interests. Family will be receiving visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (Callander) on Saturday June 3, 2017 for a Celebration of Phil’s Life at 12 pm.
