BROWN, Dorothy "Dot" (nee Pipher)

Posted

Dorothy, beloved wife of the late Wilfred Brown, in her 81st year, died peacefully in her sleep at Cassellholme on Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Loving mother of Dayle (Kathie), Kincardine, Marena Geddes (Bob), Ottawa and Heather (Wallace), North Bay. Dear grandmother of Jordi, Karly, Lindsay, Shane, Deanna, Derrick and Emily, and great-grandmother of Travis and Taylor. Dorothy was a dedicated and active member of Trinity United Church in her younger years. She had a beautiful singing voice and shared her talents with church choirs and choral groups in North Bay and Florida, where she spent many winter months. Dorothy cherished the many times spent with her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed entertaining friends and neighbours at MacDonald Avenue on Lake Nipissing. She loved music, swimming and playing cards, especially bridge. On her returns from Florida, she always had a new card game to teach her grandchildren. She taught and played the piano for many years at West Bay Field school, and adored all of her special students. A special thank you to all of the dedicated, compassionate staff at Cassellholme, Empire Living Centre, Para-Med, and VON who went out of their way to care for her over the last five years. Dorothy was loved by all who knew her, and she will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 12 noon at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel with a luncheon to follow. Interment on Monday at North Bay Union Cemetery. Donation in memory of Dorothy to Cassellholme, Home for the Aged, or a charity of your choice, would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
