Black Garry

November 19th, 1939 - May 4th, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, wise father and loving grandfather, Garry Black, at the age of 81.

He is dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Ethel Black (nee Wood) and his four children, Kenneth (Karyn), Douglas (Carmen), Keri (Joe), and Stacey (Matt). Poppa / Papa /Poppa B will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Hayden, Bec, Owen, Mitu, Olivea, Myles, Rogan, and Tommy. He is survived by his sisters Olive Jones and Sharon Rathbone (Marvin), and his sister-in-law Alma Black.

Garry was born in Dunn’s Valley, Ontario, as one of 12 children to Andrew Oswald and Gertrude Black. He attended Ranger School as a young adult and worked as a Forestry Technician for the MNR in Chapleau, and then Kirkland Lake, until his retirement in 1995. He was a quiet loyal man, known for his dry wit and gentle leadership style in work, coaching, and family life. A man of integrity.

There will be no memorial service at this time.
