BICKERSTAFF, Margaret J

Posted

Passed away peacefully at Tullamore Nursing Home, Brampton on November 12, 2003 in her 98th year following years of declining health from Alzheimer’s and recently a brief struggle with pneumonia. Born in North Bay, Ontario, Margaret was the youngest daughter of the late George and Jean Newton. For over 50 years, she was well known in the Calvin Presbyterian Church family in North Bay, and in 1960 moved to Mississauga where she joined the Erindale Presbyterian Church and the Credit Valley Neighbours. A strong yet gently lady, she will be remembered best by family and friends for her kindness and generosity, fresh baked lemon meringue pies, beautiful flower gardens and her flare for being a gracious hostess. She is survived by her four children – Dalton Weegar (Julie) of Sudbury, Beth Turner of Victoria, British Columbia, George Weegar (Pat) of Richmond, Va., Virginia Caldwell of Delta, British Columbia; 11 grandchildren – Sorel, Nancy, Sandi, Bruce, Ken, Ralph, Dale, Darlene, Gina, Jeff and Lori; 14 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three husbands Edric Weegar, Walter Hendrick and Bill Bickerstaff. The family thanks dedicated caregivers Abigail Henry, Edith Hayes and the late Helen Fuchs for their compassion and companionship in Margaret’s failing years,
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your hear bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me but let me go.
For this is the journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me…but let me go.
