BASSETT, Donald Robert

Passed away peacefully on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­October 1, 2017 in North Bay, Ontario after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Don was born on February 5, 1949 in Belleville, Ontario.  He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Jackie, his son Rob, and daughters Melissa MacDonald (Brent) and Cheryl Ward (Aaron).  He will also be missed by his granddaughters Leighanne and Kyleigh MacDonald and Jo-Anna Ward. Don was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bud) Bassett and Mary Langevin (nee Weese) and his brother Larry.   He is survived by his brothers Jim, Peter, and Rob Jr (Sarah) and sisters Penny Theobald (late Martin) and Andrea Bassett (Alvaro).  He will be missed by his nieces and nephews and long-time friend David Harley. Special thanks to his Para-Med nurse Sandra Sargent for her care and compassion to Don and his family, Dr. Rebekah King, Dr. Scott Young, Northeast Cancer Centre and the North Bay Regional Health Centre.  At Don’s request there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The War Amps or to the North Bay Regional Health Centre would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Service at 705 476-4444.
