AHOLA, Eino Henry

Peacefully in his sleep, Henry passed away Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Elsey (nee Maeck), he was 91 years old. Loving father of Karl John Ahola & James Otto Ahola and his wife AnnMarie both of North Bay. Predeceased by his daughters Rosemary Liscombe and Dianne Linda Ahola. Remembered by Terry Hayward also of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Mary Jane (Melissa), Derek, James Henry, William (Julie), Michael (Neela), Dawna, Emily, Liam, Amy, Brandon, Shannon and by his great grandchildren Joshua, Trinity, Gavin, Abigail, Miles, Henry, Aila, Ben and Keenan. Henry will be fondly remembered by the Staff at the Gateway Home Hardware on Algonquin Avenue. Predeceased by his parents John & Aili Ahola, brothers Onni and Reino and by his nephew David. Fondly remembered as a dear uncle to Karen Ahola and great uncle to Jason Ahola & Anne Ward. Henry along with his father and brothers cut cordwood in their bush in Ravensworth in support of the War effort, then they started Ahola Brothers Lumber, Henry became a Sawyer and Millright. Then in 1958, He and Evelyn purchased and operated the Gateway Home Hardware on Algonguin Avenue. Operating for nearly 60 years it became one of Northern Ontario’s premier Hardware Stores. Visitation will be held for Henry in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 14th at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at the North Bay Union Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Redeemer Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
