B.C. Lions add former CFL receiver Howell to their coaching staff

VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions hired Markus Howell as their passing game co-ordinator and receivers coach Thursday.

Howell is reunited with Lions offensive co-ordinator Jarious Jackson as the two spent the last two seasons coaching with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Howell is entering his eighth season as a coach after playing 11 seasons as a receiver/kick-returner with Winnipeg, Ottawa and Calgary.

“Markus was very high on Jarious’s list of potential coaching candidates and we’re extremely pleased to have him coming aboard,” Lions head coach Wally Buono said in a statement. "Given their previous history together, Jarious and Markus now have the added benefit of hitting the ground running here in B.C. which is a significant factor when implementing the passing game into an offence.”
