BOSTON — The Colorado Avalanche are heading into their home opener feeling pretty good. Another win in Boston certainly helped.

NEW YORK — The New York Rangers have claimed forward Adam Cracknell off waivers. The 32-year-old Cracknell has skated in 204 NHL games with St. Louis, Columbus, Vancouver, Edmonton and Dallas, with 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings were mostly pleased with their first road game of the season. Kopitar scored twice, Dustin Brown and Nick Shore also scored and the Kings beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 on Saturday night.

CALGARY — After zero goals in their first game of the season, the Calgary Flames needed a big night on the scoresheet and T.J. Brodie helped them get it Saturday.
