PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Conor Sheary on a $9 million, three-year deal. Sheary will count $3 million against the salary cap through 2019-20.

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars will host the 2018 NHL draft at American Airlines Center. The NHL and the Stars announced Saturday night that the draft will be Friday-Saturday, June 22-23. The first round will be June 22 and the final six rounds June 23.

MONTREAL — Maurice Filion, the former coach and general manager of the Quebec Nordiques in the World Hockey Association and the National Hockey League, has died. Filion, who was 85, died on Friday but the cause of death was not made public.

NASHVILLE — General manager David Poile has made it clear he's been looking for a top centre since first hired to build the Nashville Predators 20 years ago.

BOSTON — The Boston Bruins and centre Ryan Spooner avoided arbitration on the day of their hearing, agreeing to a one-year, $2,825,000 deal Wednesday.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks have hired Dave Barr as an assistant coach on Peter DeBoer's staff. Barr will serve as the team's "eye in the sky" this season.

TORONTO — Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid said he's disappointed that the NHL won't be sending players to the Winter Olympic in South Korea next year.

NEWARK, N.J. — The Devils have re-signed Stefan Noesen and four other forwards who spent most of last season with New Jersey's top minor-league franchise in Albany, New York.
