Ryan Pulock's power-play goal a minute into overtime pushed the New York Islanders past the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Friday night in Allentown, Pa.
Pulock's goal accounted for the only time New York led in the game. The Islanders came back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1.
Jan Cover and Ross Johnston also scored for New York, which received a 25-save performance from Robin Lehner.
Shayne Gostisbehere opened the scoring with a power-play goal 8:30 into the game, and Travis Konecny added an even-strength goal at 17:37 of the second period.
Carter Hart started in goal for Philadelphia and stopped all nine shots he faced in his half of the game before being replaced by Anthony Stolarz, who allowed all three New York goals on 10 shots.
HURRICANES 5, CAPITALS 1
At Raleigh, N.C., Jaccob Slavin had a goal and two assists to lead the Hurricanes past Washington.
Jordan Staal and Valentin Zykov each had a goal and an assist, and Jordan Martinook and Martin Necas added goals. In all, nine Hurricanes recorded at least one point.
Petr Mrazek started for Carolina and made nine saves on 10 shots spanning the first two periods before being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic, who stopped all eight shots he faced in the third.
Nicklas Backstrom's goal at 12:21 of the first accounted for Washington's scoring.
Braden Holtby started in goal for Washington, and allowed three goals on 18 shots in two periods. Ilya Samsonov stopped six of seven shots in the third.
