Workplace Safety North has donated $5,000 to the My Y is Resilient campaign in North Bay through the collective support of staff.

Tom Welton, Director, of Prevention Services and Education Programs at Workplace Safety North and long-time member at the YMCA, put out a call for donations to raise money for the campaign.

“I wanted to do my part in giving back to the Y during this challenging time and explored various opportunities of how I could best help. I am fortunate to be working in a workplace with supportive staff,” said Welton.

The goal was to raise $1,000, which Tom and his wife would match. In just one week, the staff at Workplace Safety North raised $1,410, exceeding the goal. Recognizing the immediate support from staff and the need from the YMCA, Paul Andre, CEO of Workplace Safety North, confirmed that WSN would bring the total amount to $5,000.

"The funds will support the YMCA and allow the Y to remain strong, resilient and able to continue supporting our local communities for years to come," says a news release.

"Receiving this very generous donation from the staff at Workplace Safety North is so encouraging. Our campaign is off to a strong start thanks to community leadership and businesses who are giving back," said Nicole Beattie, Vice President of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.
