Woman assaulted and confined in West Nipissing

The West Nipissing Police Service responded to a complaint of a possible domestic dispute at a King Street residence on Monday. Upon arrival, police learned that a female had been forced into the rear compartment of the vehicle by a male. The male drove the car away and when he stopped the vehicle the female ran away. The man gave chase and once again put the woman in the car. Once at the residence an altercation took place and the female was struck. The man now faces charges of assault and forcible confinement.

Other items in the West Nipissing police report, an 88-year-old Sturgeon Falls man faces charges of impaired driving after police received a complaint of an erratic driver. After receiving the complaint officers located the vehicle at a private residence at which time police identified the driver. The man was found to have been drinking alcoholic beverages and after providing samples of his breath into an approved instrument he was found to be over the legal limit.

A Sturgeon Falls youth faces a charge of mischief in connection to a vehicle being damaged. Police responded to a local high school where they learned that the complainant’s car had been scratched by the youth. Damage to the vehicle is estimated to be over $1,000.

On May 14th Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Russell Street residence. Upon arrival, officers observed a female showing possible signed of injuries. Police learned that an argument between a man and woman had escalated to the point where the man punched the woman on the head and then pushed her through a screen door. The man was taken into custody and faces a charge of assault.

A Lavigne resident reported a theft to police on May 11th. Police learned that the complainant had her 9000 Watt generator stolen from her residence situated along Caron Road. The investigation is ongoing.
