A simmering neighbour dispute hit a new level this week with one man arrested for attacking his neighbour's car.

On September 14, at 10:40 a.m. OPP was called in relation to a "mischief to a vehicle" complaint in Elliot Lake.

The complainant was backing out of his driveway when a neighbour blocked the vehicle with another car. The neighbour then got out and started hitting and damaging the vehicle.

There had been on-going previous disputes and high tension between the neighbours say police.

George Baranyai, 72, of Elliot Lake is charged with:"mischief Under $5,000."

Baranyai is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 3.

Meanwhile, on the afternoon of September 8, Manitoulin OPP officers responded to a complaint of mischief at a boat launch on Agnew Lake, Baldwin Township.

A dispute between two separate groups of people using the same boat launch had erupted which resulted in damage to a motor vehicle and threats against one of the boaters.

Davis O'Connell, 26, of Sudbury was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property

O'Connell was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 30, in Espanola.
