WEST NIPISSING ART GALLERY TO OPEN SUNDAYS April 06, 2015 West Nipissing—
Volunteers from the membership of the West Nipissing Art Gallery: Art Expressions will be taking turns to man to doors so that the public may have access to the art gallery on Sundays between 1pm and 4pm. The art gallery is currently housed upstairs at the Tourism Information Centre just west of Sturgeon Falls, but the information centre is closed on weekends during the off-season. Gallery president Hélène Chayer said, “It makes it difficult for people who want to view local art when the access is so limited; so this is our solution. The municipality has been agreeable to providing us the opportunity to open the doors on Sundays for public access to the gallery.” The West Nipissing Art Gallery: Art Expressions is a community organization which promotes the visual arts and provides venue for local visual artists. The gallery displays local art with two major exhibitions every year, as well as hosting a variety of workshops in different media for the members. Hélène Chayer added, “We invite the public to come and enjoy our offerings between 1pm and 4pm on Sundays, starting April 12th, 2015. There is no charge for entry, and we hope this will encourage more people to explore the arts in our area in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
