Canadore Panther Men’s Volleyball team is Partnering with Mike & Lori’s Nofrills to celebrate the Christmas spirit and collect for Christmas dinner.

Tomorrow (Saturday) from 1 - 4 p.m. the team will be outside of Mike & Lori’s Nofrills collecting donations for the Gathering Place. Its goal is to fill their Canadore Highlander with enough supplies to donate to the Christmas dinner that the Gathering Place is hosting for their clients.

The men’s volleyball team is trying to spark more community involvement for students in North Bay.

“Christmas is a time for giving, and our boys want to give back,” says assistant coach, Jordan Gardiner.

The Gathering Place is a not-for-profit charitable organization located in North Bay and delivers programming to address food insecurity issues in our community. They are funded entirely by community donations and annual fundraising events.

Head coach, Mark Hopper, is passionate about getting his team involved in the North Bay community.

“Creating community involvement is so important and seems to be diminishing in youth. We want to bring that back. If we can help local families enjoy a Christmas dinner, there’s nothing else we should be doing on a Saturday afternoon.”
