Proof once again to the value of cameras in businesses.

On April 1 Nipissing West OPP investigated a report of an overnight theft of wallet from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Arthur Street in West Nipissing.

The thieves later fraudulently used the stolen credit card to make purchases, prior to the card being cancelled.

On April 17 officers obtained the store's video surveillance footage and were able to identify two people who were subsequently arrested.

Headyn Fry, 19, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Cory Sozansky, 26, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both were released by way of an appearance notice and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 2 in West Nipissing.
