North Bay, ON – Veterans’ Week, November 5th to the 11th, pays tribute to all Canadian Veterans who have served this country with pride and those who continue to do so today. The Veterans’ Week Speaker’s Program (VWSP) coincides with Veterans’ Week to honour the achievements and sacrifices of all who have served Canada, to promote remembrance activities and, this year, to highlight modern-day Veterans and their families.  With a robust VWSP, members of 22 Wing spoke at twenty-six local schools, organizations and clubs connecting with over 4,500 Canadians this past week.  Just one example of the special relationship 22 Wing has with the North Bay community, Major (Maj.) Christopher Horner, 51 Aerospace Control & Warning (Operational Training) Squadron (AC&W (OT) Sqn) Commanding Officer, was invited back to speak to approximately 1,200 students and staff of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH) during two Remembrance Day assemblies held on Monday, November 10th

Quick Facts

·         In 2013, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members made more than 1,700 presentations across Canada, reaching an estimated 500,000 Canadians face-to-face.

·         Locally, in 2013, members of 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay spoke at twenty-one engagements connecting with approximately 3,500 people.

·         Key to the success of the VWSP is the full participation of CAF members in uniform, both Regular and Reserve Force.
