News Release
***************
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is currently reviewing the immunization records of
every secondary school student in the district. The Immunization of School Pupils Act gives the Health
Unit the authority to suspend students if they do not have up to date immunization records. Families
of a student with an incomplete immunization record will receive a letter from the Health Unit in
January requesting the missing information.
For convenience, the Health Unit will be offering immunization clinics at each secondary school in
our district between February 17 and 27. If you wish for your child to receive their immunizations at
the school clinic, please complete the consent form. Then your child can return it to the school on
the day of the clinic.
Suspension notices will be issued in early March to those students who still have an incomplete
immunization record. If a student’s immunization record is not up to date by March 24 at 4 pm, they
will be suspended from school as of Wednesday, March 25 until the information is brought up to
date.
Missing immunization information must be provided to the Health Unit, not to the child’s school. The
Health Unit removes students from the suspension list as the missing information is received.
In July 2014, the immunizations required for attendance at school in the province of Ontario were
updated. The following immunizations are now mandatory for attendance at school:
