Living true to the theme "We Give Today, To Improve Tomorrow," Union Gas employees and retirees expressed their support and generosity by exceeding their local 2018 United Way campaign goal, raising a total of $33,559 in support of United Way North East Ontario.

“Union Gas is a strong supporter of United Way and the important work they contribute to this community,” said Chris Minor, district manager Northeast, Union Gas.

The 2018 company campaign, which was led by a dedicated group of volunteers, included numerous employee-led fundraising events throughout the year in addition to individual donations. Union Gas matches each individual donation dollar for dollar, and those matching dollars also go to each local United Way.

“United Way and Union Gas are taking bold action against poverty in Nipissing. This unignorable issue can only be addressed with community-minded partners. Union Gas staff, management, and retirees have committed to fighting for equity in our local community,” says Erika Lougheed, manager of Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts, United Way North East Ontario. “This year Union Gas has helped keep The Warming Centre open this winter, provided food outreach at The Gathering Place, kept our seniors safe with Red Cross, and supported some of our most vulnerable population at PADDLE."

Funds will go to support United Way North East Ontario agencies and programs that help to build a community where vulnerable young people, hardworking families, and seniors have enough to eat, a place to call home and safe neighbourhoods.
