(COCHRANE, ON) –At approximately 5:30 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Cochrane detachment responded to a two motor vehicle collision along Hwy 11, approximately one kilometer West of Cochrane,Ontario.

Upon arriving at the scene, police closed Hwy 11 in order to conduct their investigation. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Cochrane Fire Department attended the scene and conducted the safe removal of the three occupants who were trapped in their vehicles.

The investigation revealed that a Westbound Dodge Journey passenger vehicle occupied by a 37 year old lone male driver from Kapuskasing, Ontario collided head on with an Eastbound Ford Ranger pickup truck occupied by a 73 year old male driver and 55 year old female passenger from Leprairie, Manitoba. 

The three occupants sustained serious injuries during the collision and were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Members with the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit are currently investigating the cause of the collision and Hwy 11 has been re-opened
