A transport rollover means southbound traffic on Highway 144 is detoured. Supplied.

On February 26, at 5:30 a.m., OPP responded to a single motor vehicle accident on the off-ramp to Highway 144 from Highway 17.

Investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was eastbound on Highway 17 and subsequently rolled-over after exiting onto the off-ramp to proceed northbound on Highway 144.

The driver and lone occupant were not injured.

The tractor-trailer was hauling with non-hazardous materials that remained intact. The driver was charged with careless driving.

Southbound traffic on Highway 144 is being detoured through Regional Road 24 into Lively. From there, motorists can reconnect with Highway 17 and continue eastbound or westbound. Traffic on Highway 17 is not affected.

The road closure is anticipated to last into the evening while crews remove the load (44,000 pounds) from the damaged trailer onto another trailer as well as the wreckage.
