(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On December 17, 2014 members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Highway 69 in Pointe au Baril. Shortly after midnight a southbound motor vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. stop. As the officer approached the vehicle an immediate odour of marihuana was detected.
As a result of the R.I.D.E. stop and further investigation with the assistance of the West Parry Sound Crime Unit, a small amount of marihuana and a large sum of Canadian Currency was seized.
The driver Anthony BUTCH, 35, of Toronto was arrested and charged with:
- 2 counts - Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana as per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
The passenger, Andre BOUGES, 38 years of age from Toronto was arrested and charged with:
- 2 counts - Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana as per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
