Toastmasters raise their flag at City Hall

Toastmasters clubs are composed of men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and interests

Mayor Al MacDonald proclaimed October as Toastmasters Month during a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall Tuesday morning.

Toastmasters is a worldwide non-profit organization that provides the tools with which members can learn to improve public speaking skills, and in doing so, develop leadership qualities, confidence and great communication skills.

Toastmasters clubs are composed of men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and interests and this was the first time the North Bay and Area Toastmasters flag has been raised at City Hall.

Lee Ann Schneider, President of the North Bay and Area Toastmasters Club, told CKAT that this is a great opportunity to let the community know about the organization.

“We help and encourage one another. It’s a safe environment to practice your public speaking and take on different roles that help your leadership skills,” she says.

The group meets twice a month (1st and 3rd Wed 6:30 p.m.) at North Bay Police headquarters and is also working on some online meetings.
