Theft of methadone

Kirkland Lake OPP is asking for the public's assistance in regards to a break and enter that occurred at the methadone clinic in Kirkland Lake. The incident occurred sometime between June 21st 10 p.m. and June 22nd  9 a.m.

Once inside the thieves took an unspecified quantity of methadone.

Methadone is a synthetic opioid used to treat addiction. The OPP reminds the public about the severity of taking methadone and/or any illegal prescription medication. These controlled substances are extremely dangerous when not administered by medical professionals.  

The Controlled Drug and Substances Act prohibits anyone from possessing any prescribed medication without a prescription. It is a criminal offence to offer or sell a prescribed medication to another person. Purchasing another person's prescribed drugs is also illegal.
