(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is committed to the safety and security of the area residents it serves. On December 13, 2014 a resident in Parry Sound answered the door and was met by a male saying he was representing a company.  The home owner was suspicious and refused the person entry to their house.

DOOR THREAT?

BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS, IF:

  1. Unknown person at your door…Don’t open it, talk through it!
  2. Approached in your yard…Don’t invite them in!
  3. Suspicious salesperson tries to rush you to buy something…Refuse!
  4. Salesperson suggests they’re working in your area…Don’t believe them, get estimates or call the company to verify their identity! 

Remember you are in charge, take control. Persons who refuse to leave your property when directed to do so are trespassing and can be charged. 

To report a potential fraud, call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. If you are a victim of fraud or are being harassed by high pressure salespersons and wish to notify the OPP, call 1-888-310-1122.
