Suspended Sturgeon man facing impaired charges

On June 8, at 4:55 a.m., Noëlville OPP responded to a traffic complaint about an erratic driver heading southbound on Highway 535 from Highway 17 in Hagar.  

Officers found and stopped the vehicle on Highway 535 at Shaw Road in the Municipality of French River.   

Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had been consuming alcohol and was subsequently arrested.  

As a result of the investigation, Brandon Devine, 26, from Sturgeon Falls is charged with:  

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Drive while under suspension

Devine was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 29 in Sudbury.

He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This charge marks the 27th driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the Nipissing West Detachment area in 2020.
