The Nipissing University Student Union, Lakers Men's Volleyball Team, and Nipissing University students have raised $3,780 for the Movember Foundation.

AJ Lacarte, NUSU Communications Assistant said: "We are so happy to have raised over a thousand dollars more than what our goal was initially. This has been a great opportunity to help improve men's health, and raise awareness about self-checks, both mental and physical, here on campus."

The money raised will help fund research and support systems for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

"There has been a great response to this initiative on our campus, and at our volleyball games where we have sold Movember wristbands. We are so grateful to be able to raise money and awareness and help create a dialogue to challenge the way that men treat their bodies and minds for the better." said Adam MacLandress, Nipissing University Lakers Men's Volleyball Team Manager.
