The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of an old framed art piece that had been left at a local business for appraisal. The business owner contacted OPP for assistance in locating the owner as the art piece had possibly been involved in a theft or break in.
The investigation in relation to the framed art piece revealed that the art piece was created by a German artist by hand carving a block of wood. The wood is then pressed into ink and the impression is then pressed onto the paper. The painting was created in 1938 in Germany and found its way to Montreal. The painting made its way to the Parry Sound area as a gift to a friend and former pupil of the German artist.
On December 3, 2014 Jason MILK, 27 years of age from McDougall Township was arrested and charged with the following offences.
- Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
- Possession property obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to the CC.
