Staggering driver charged

On March 27 a member of the West Parry Sound OPP was notified that two men were seen getting into a vehicle and the driver was staggering on Forest Street in Parry Sound.

Shortly after 6 p.m. officers found the vehicle and spoke to the driver. The investigation revealed he was impaired by drugs. The West Parry Sound Detachment arrested its thirteenth impaired driver of 2019.

As a result, Erwin Verblac, 55 from Seguin Township was arrested and charged with;

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration,
  • Resist peace officer,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Heroin and
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Cocaine.

The driver was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound today. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.
