Speeding tractor trailer driver charged with impaired

A strong odour of alcohol was detected on his breath

On Monday at 7:34 p.m., the East Algoma OPP officers were on general patrol duties on Highway 17 in Blind River.

Police saw a westbound tractor-trailer speeding through town and stopped it.

When speaking to the male driver, a strong odour of alcohol was detected on his breath. As a result, he was arrested, his driver's license suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Joey Chambers, 45, from Porcupine, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Care or Control Over 80 mgs, 
  • Speeding 1 - 49 km/h over posted limit,
