Snowmobiler charged with impaired

On January 5 at 11 p.m., West Parry Sound OPP officers were on general patrol in Parry Sound when they saw a possible impaired driver operating a snowmobile.

Police stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the driver, officers concluded alcohol had been consumed. The driver was arrested and taken to the West Parry Sound OPP detachment where further testing was conducted.

Barrett Warder,35, of Parry Sound is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired 
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), 

Warder is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on February 17. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This charge marks the 2nd driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the West Parry Sound Detachment area in 2022.
