Silver Birches Elementary School students in Grades 2-6 have been busy working together planting apple trees in their schoolyard, which was made possible through an Edible Tree Grant through Tree Canada.
Not only will students benefit from increased shade the trees will provide, but students will have access to the growing fruit and be provided with outdoor learning opportunities right in their own backyard.
Students celebrated the ‘fruits of their labour’ with their school community Friday during a Bring Your Parents to Lunch event.
