Near North Schools Welcome  Future Students to Kindergarten
During the month of May, elementary schools will be welcoming future Junior and Senior Kindergarten students and their families to the Kindergarten program in the Near North District School Board. With continued sponsorship from The Learning Partnership, and in collaboration with Early Years community partners, Near North schools are pleased to provide experiences and materials to nurture early learning for each preschool child and family at an upcoming event hosted at each neighborhood school.
Every elementary school will be hosting a Welcome to Kindergarten (WTK) orientation session for families with their children.  It is an opportunity for parents and their children to connect with school teams, resource staff and community partners. Each child will receive a WTK bag full of resources and ideas to explore joyful learning together with family.
Kindergarten in the Near North District School Board is a two-year program that builds on the child’s experiences and welcomes them on the continued learning journey into school.  It is alive with opportunities to explore and talk together about discoveries, open-ended materials for creativity, books, letters and words, technology to enhance and open the world to new learning, and literacy and mathematics all through the day. The program is rich with opportunities that promote a strong foundation for a bright future!
To register for school this September, children entering Junior Kindergarten must be 4 years old on or before December 31, 2015 and children entering Senior Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before December 31, 2015.
Parents are reminded that schools are still accepting student registrations for September!  For the date and time of each orientation session, parents can visit www.nearnorthschools.ca or contact their local Near North school. - 30 -
