Chorale des Griffons presented a cheque for $1,000 to Father Gérald LaJeunesse, priest of Paroisse St-Vincent-de-Paul in North Bay, for the renovation projects of the church.

École élémentaire catholique Saints-Anges’ student choir Chorale des Griffons presented a cheque for $1,000 to Father Gérald LaJeunesse, priest of Paroisse St-Vincent-de-Paul in North Bay, for the renovation projects of the church.

Money was raised through ticket sales for a benefit concert entitled Les Griffons chantent Noël which took place at the church on December 18.

"The benefit performance, presented by the Chorale des Griffons, a choir of students in grades 2-6, was a great success," says a news release. Eighteen Christmas carols were sung in front of more than 140 spectators at Église St-Vincent-de-Paul.

"We are always happy to welcome and support Catholic youth within our parish.", states Father LaJeunesse. "The Chorale des Griffons would like to sincerely thank the school community and its partners who made this concert possible. Thank you to the Compagnons des francs loisirs, Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord, École secondaire catholique Algonquin, B2 Sound, Kal Tire of North Bay, Mr. Alain Legrand and Jacob Guillemette as well as all those who attended the benefit concert."

"It is our mission as a school and school board to support our partners and build the French Catholic community. Through this wonderful benefit concert, we are supporting our parish in its projects and teaching the children the importance of citizenship.", said Michelle Kerr, Principal of École élémentaire catholique Saints-Anges.

“Participating in a choir also allows children to showcase their talent and teaches perseverance.”

In its first year, the choir numbered approximately 30 students. Today, in its second year under the direction of Sébastien Goyer and Nadia Hamelin, members of the school's staff, it has 60 students participating.
