Running out of gas costly for this man

The motorist explained that he had run out of gas

Bet this guy wished he'd filled up at the last gas station.

On Saturday at approximately 1 a.mm Provincial Constable Jason Golds stopped to help a motorist on the side of Highway 17 near Pembroke with the vehicle's 4-way flashers on. 

The motorist explained that he had run out of gas.

But further investigation revealed the man had been drinking, and was promptly arrested for impaired driving. 

A search of the vehicle revealed a white substance believed to be cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and ammunition. 

The man is currently on a 10-year court order prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.  

Following breath tests at the detachment Christopher Roberts, 27, of Ottawa was held for a bail hearing charged with:

  • impaired driving,
  • driving over 80mgs,
  • possession of ammunition while prohibited,
  • possession of cocaine,
  • possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking,
  • driving while under suspension and
  • driving without a currently validated permit.
