River & Sky Music/Camping Festival, taking place July 18-21 at Fishers’ Paradise, is searching for a few more amazing volunteers of all ages and abilities.

The festival, heading into its 11th year, features some 35 bands, 16 DJs, workshops, crafters, food vendors as well as 2019 headliners Hollerado, U.S. Girls, F**cked Up, and Fast Romantics. Set along the Sturgeon River in the community of Field, West Nipissing (partway between North Bay and Sudbury),  River & Sky offers the perfect place for festival-goers to connect with nature while also supporting sustainability. With riverside saunas on a sandy beach, there’s plenty of swimming too.

Every year, River & Sky relies on the energy of about 185 volunteers to put on its annual four-day festival. Volunteers help with everything from making pizzas in wood-fired cob-ovens to creating art installations in the woods to reducing waste produced at the festival by recycling obsessively and helping with compost.

Hez Bird, River & Sky’s Volunteer Coordinator, has experienced the benefits of volunteering in the past and is encouraging people to try it out and get involved with their community.

“When I moved to Sudbury three years ago, I didn’t know anyone,” said Bird. “Volunteering at River & Sky is how I met my amazing friends and became a part of a community that I truly adore. Now I have the honour of helping other people join this community of wonderful humans.”

Volunteers younger than 16 years of age, need to volunteer alongside their parents. To sign-up and become a River & Sky member, visit the link https://riverandsky.ca/ and click volunteer or email Hez at [email protected]
