RIDE stop leads to drug charges

On June 11, at 3 a.m. officers from Mattawa OPP were participating in a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere program on John Street in Mattawa when they stopped a small car travelling westbound.

An investigation resulted in Paul Ratelle 33, of West Nipissing being charged with:

  • Two counts - Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking under 3 kilograms 
  • Possession of a schedule II substance cannabis marijuana over 30 grams
  • Possession of a schedule II substance cannabis resin over one gram 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa on July 12.
