$40,000 through the Anti-Racism Anti-Hate Grant will support Endaayaan Awejaa to build Nipissing’s capacity to combat and prevent racism and hate in all its forms.

Endaayaan Awejaa is a start-up non-profit organization at 187 Main Street West, North Bay that is dedicated to providing all youth and families with safe places to heal and build solid foundations for their future according to its website.

"Our mission statement is Maamwi Bmosedaa which means Walking in Unity. We strive to Walk In Unity together with our youth, their families and our local community."

“This funding is assisting us with spreading the message about Truth and Reconciliation through a small documentary," explains Natasha Lariviere, Founder of Endaayaan Awejaa. "The documentary we are working on is helping us share the life experiences of Indigenous youth and elders and how the effects of colonization have impacted their lives and communities. With this funding, we are also able to showcase the work that these individuals are doing to create change within their communities to strengthen Indigenous roots and culture for the next 7 generations.”

“Solutions to combat racism and hate are needed urgently and require a collaborative community approach,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing.
