Police recover stolen property

Further investigation revealed the items found in the vehicle matched those reported stolen

While investigating an impaired driving incident on March 17, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP made note of possible stolen property found inside the vehicle, before it was impounded.  

On March 19, at 1:05 p.m., officers investigated a theft of an outboard motor and a generator from a shed located on a property on King Street in West Nipissing.  

Further investigation revealed the items found in the vehicle matched those reported stolen.  

On March 22, officers executed a warrant for the vehicle and seized the stolen property.  

On the evening of March 23, officers arrested the suspects.  

Brenda Rainville, 54, and Sophia Brazeau, 21, both from West Nipissing, are charged with possession property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both were released by way of an undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 4, in West Nipissing.
