The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind everyone to have a safe Canada Day weekend. The OPP will be patrolling the villages, municipalities, waterways, and trails this Canada Day long weekend.
OPP will be looking for distracted drivers, which includes items such as cell phones, GPS devices, and any other handheld device while driving. Distracted drivers are a risk to themselves and anyone else using the road including pedestrians and cyclists. Please focus on the road and not your device.
Officers will also be looking for speeders, impaired drivers and failing to use seatbelts.
Police will also be on the waterways to ensure boaters comply with the vessel regulations as well on the trails enforcing the off-road vehicles act.
