Police cooperation recovers $69,000 excavator

Two police forces have combined to solve the theft of an excavator.

On June 1, Temiskaming OPP was made aware of the theft of the excavator by North Bay police.

Then on July 31, the OPP were told an excavator had been found on a property in Harley Township, just north of Temfiskaming shores. The Street Crime Unit and a Scenes of Crime officer were called to assist with the investigation. The stolen excavator, valued at approximately $69,000, was recovered by police.   

On Sunday, August 4, OPP arrested and charged Joshua Bumstead, 36, from Coleman Township with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Bumstead was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on August 27 in Temiskaming Shores.
