OPP issue 124 charges over Easter weekend

EASTER LONG WEEKEND RESULTS

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were busy patrolling local roads and towns this Easter long weekend.

This year between Friday April 3, 2015 and Monday April 6, 2015, OPP issued a total of 124 Provincial Offences Act charges.  These charges include, speeding, fail to wear seat belt, distracted driving, stunt driving and numerous other Highway Traffic Act charges.  
Seven drivers were charged for failing to produce insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario.

Officers also conducted R.I.D.E programs throughout the area, checking a total of 384 vehicles.  
Almaguin Highlands OPP would like to thank the majority of drivers who drove responsibly.

       OPP INVESTIGATE BREAK AND ENTER IN JOLY TOWNSHIP

(JOLY TWP, ON) On Friday April 3, 2015 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break and enter to an Airport Road, Joly Township residence.  Unknown person(s) entered the residence sometime between December 2014 and April 3, 2015.  Police are continuing to investigate, at this time it does not appear like anything was taken from the residence.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this break and enter should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.”
