        ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS OPP ARREST BURK’S FALLS MALE 
                             FOR THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single motor vehicle collision on Saturday April 11, 2015 at approximately 4:00 a.m.  The collision occurred on Highway 11 just north of Highway 518, Armour Township.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the collision had been stolen by the driver, Joey SAMPSON, 18 of Burk’s Falls Ontario earlier that morning from a Royston Road residence.   Police also found a stolen camera in the vehicle that the accused had taken earlier from another vehicle.

Police arrested the accused and charged him with theft of a motor vehicle, trespassing at night, theft under $5000 from motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by a crime, failure to comply with probation and breach of a recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday April 13, 2015 for a bail hearing in Parry Sound Ontario.

POLICE INVESTIGATE A BREAK ENTER AND THEFT

(PERRY TWP, ON) On Friday April 10, 2015 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to a Bay Lake Road, Perry Township residence. 

Sometime between the fall of 2014 and April 10, 2015 unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole a Sony television, a pair of water skis, a coffee maker and other personal items.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $1800.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.”

        BURK’S FALLS MAN ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) On Sunday April 12, 2015 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Ferguson Road, Armour Township.  Police stopped a westbound vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver for impaired driving. 

OPP charged the driver, David BOTHAM, 30 of Burk’s Falls Ontario with driving while ability impaired and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday May 14, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.
