Ontario will continue to operate three northern provincial parks - Ivanhoe Lake, Fushimi Lake, and René Brunelle - as part of an ongoing commitment to ensure Ontarians have access to the province's great outdoors.
The province previously announced a commitment to operate the parks for the 2015 season, and is extending that commitment now for the 2016-2019 camping seasons.
Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park is a popular spot for family holidays, fishing trips and canoe outings, with hiking trails running through ancient glacial landscapes. Fushimi Lake Provincial Park, surrounded by the lush Boreal Forest, is an excellent fishing spot for Walleye, Northern Pike and Yellow Perch. And René Brunelle Provincial Park sports four sandy beaches and provides wonderful bird-watching and wildlife viewing.
Ensuring provincial parks are available for Ontarians to enjoy is part of the government's economic plan for Ontario. The four-part plan is building Ontario up by investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives and building a secure savings plan.
