Odyssée robotics team places second in Oshawa event

Odyssée competed against 39 other teams from across Ontario in this event which showcases their project design, team spirit, project innovation and robot control execution

On Saturday, January 14, the robotics team of École secondaire publique Odyssée won second place in the Engineering Excellence Award for their robot design.

The Odyssée team, composed of six participants, was heading to Oshawa to participate in the provincial LEGO competition following their victory at the regional competition held in December.

Odyssée competed against 39 other teams from across Ontario in this event which showcases their project design, team spirit, project innovation and robot control execution. Teams are evaluated three times during the day.

"A proud moment for Odyssée was when the team received 245 points for the engineering of their robot," says a release. "This result represents the highest score in the history of the Phenix robotics team.

Due to some challenges in the final round of evaluation, Odyssée placed 20th in the province.  This was the second in-person participation for the current team while the other events - apart from the regional competition last December - were virtual meets.

Motivated by the progress and accomplishments of the 2022-2023 team, Odyssée is already preparing for the competitions scheduled during the next school year.

"Kudos to the students who actively participate in robotics activities and to the staff members who are committed to providing a rewarding authentic learning experience that meets the interests of the students."
