Denise Martel of North Cobalt is $250,000 richer after winning with Instant Sonic Multiplier.

The 57-year old caterer bought this ticket five days after her birthday by cashing in some smaller winning tickets that had been given to her as gifts. She bought the winning ticket specifically because it was recommended to her by the cashier.

Martel was at home when she discovered her win.

“I was sitting at the dining room table, and when I matched the number and uncovered the prize I kept revealing numbers until $250,000 appeared,” she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque.

“I screamed and jumped out of my chair. My husband thought I was full of it so I grabbed my phone and scanned it using the OLG Lottery App. When he saw, he said, ‘come on, let’s go to the store.’ When we got to the store and the terminal froze, I turned and looked at him and said, ‘do you believe me now?’” she laughed.

The mother and grandmother plans to travel and pay off the remainder of the balance of her husband’s new truck.

“Whenever I can go to Vegas, I’m going. It might take a few years to get there, but I’m going,” she smiled. Denise also plans to share with her family, and invest in retirement savings.

“I still can’t believe it. It’s a dream come true – what a good time,” she concluded.
