North bay Nursing Agency celebrates its grand opening.

North Bay Nursing Agency celebrated a successful grand opening last Wednesday with a ribbon cutting surrounded by friends, family and board members.

The North Bay Nursing Agency is open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the walk-in clinic located at 269 Main St W suite 202. The Agency is comprised of eight co-op nurses offering private nursing care, a walk-in clinic, and health and wellness classes with each nurse offering their own specialization says a news release from the company.

"This new model of nursing care matches the right nurse, with the right need, in the right place at the right time. Patients can book their own appointments for the walk-in clinic on the website. Classes are run by a co-op nurse within her specialty. Glorianne Papolis, RN, has been running her CPR and First Aid Classes since January 2nd; and Colleen Scanlan RN has been running her Qi Gong and meditation classes since January 9th."

The spa foot care chair has been used by specialized foot care nurses and clinic rooms have been used for acute care assessment such as colds and flu, wound care; flu and travel vaccines – 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most extended health care plans cover nursing but patients must pay first and then get reimbursed.

"Colleen Scanlan, CEO and Founder as a social entrepreneur, has run her acupuncture services for the past 25 years and has been a registered nurse, practicing for 38 years. She saw a lack of private nursing availability in North Bay and wanted to change that. She wanted to give her community an alternative to the current health care services in the area and began her North Bay Nursing Agency journey. The group of eight nurses are successfully operating their businesses under the umbrella of the North Bay Nursing Agency and hopes to see it grow to more co-op groups in the future. This is just the pilot project for this new model of nursing care."
