Thanks to funding from DNSSAB’s (District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board) Healthy Communities Fund to help the most needy in the community, the North Bay Food Bank is excited to launch a new online interface with several new or improved features and functions.
“This is a modern, mobile-friendly, advanced website that is a vast improvement on the out-of-date website we’d been using,” says Amber Livingstone, General Manager of the Food Bank.
“The funding allowed us to secure a web developer to create a much more powerful online presence, without it depleting the funds we need to keep feeding those suffering food insecurity,” she adds.
Features of the new website include:
- Intuitive design and layout - Making the site engaging, informative and easy for us to update, as well as for visitors to explore.
- Improved online donations - Much easier to locate and use. We use images to show you what $10, $20 or $100 dollars can do and with one click you can access a pre-prepared donation form that allows you to give either a one-time donation, or on a monthly recurring basis. You can also select to give whatever amount you choose.
- Ways to turn your next event into a fundraiser - Suggestions on how you can turn a family or work event, like a birthday or Christmas party, into a fundraiser for the Food Bank.
- Ideas for workplaces to get involved - We include everything from printable PDF’s that can be used to sign up for our new “Community Capital Campaign,” to instructions on how to get a decal to turn a spare office bluebox into a collection bin.
- Recognition - we have delegated specific sections of the new online platform to give a big “Thank You” to those who support us so much; the grocery stores, businesses and people who help us battle hunger.
- Improved access to register as a volunteer - It’s easy to find, use, and select which way you want to assist the foodbank with your time.
- Much more visible sections for news & upcoming events - To keep people aware and engaged of what’s happening at the food bank.
