The Kiwanis club is looking for citizens of the year nominations.

The Kiwanis Club of Nipissing is announcing the extension of an 'open call for nominations' for the North Bay Kiwanis Citizen of the Year.

Although the club's website has a March 12 deadline with a Nomination Form template, https://www.kiwanisnipissing.com/citizen-of-the-year, we will be accepting applications for the next 2 weeks closing March 24 where our selection committee will review the suggested list of citizens to be honoured.

President of the Kiwanis Club of Nipissing Ralph Celentano says, “For more than 30 years, since 1985, Kiwanis has been the organization who hosts the North Bay Kiwanis Citizen of the Year Dinner.  As a community service club, we are proud to recognize and celebrate many of our community leaders for the work they have done as a volunteer, be it philanthropic or as an exceptional leader for the betterment of our community,” states Celentano.

Celentano continues “The nomination can be a formal written presentation or a less formal suggestion emailed to committee Chair Chris Mayne ([email protected]) listing the attributes on behalf of the nominee, respectfully done anonymously, that is not to apply any undue pressure or disappointment if the candidate is not selected."

The nomination can be for a single act or a body of work over a period, likely decades of community service that has had a lasting impact in the city in various categories.  Club members have a committee that review all entries.  While the Kiwanis Club does not return the application submissions, they ask that you leave your contact information (name, email address or contact number) should we have any follow-up queries.  To get an idea of the past nominees, we encourage you to visit the wall of past honorees at the Pinewood (see photo attached-Citizen of the Year wall plaques).

The North Bay Kiwanis Citizen of the Year recognition dinner will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017, 7 pm at Ramada Pinewood Park Resort in North Bay.
